Dick Converse

Dick Converse is RVCOG’s Principal Land Use Planner, having been on staff since 1997.  Prior experience includes 10 years as a land use planner for Josephine County and 10 years as a planner for Jackson County, where he served as senior staff in charge of public assistance at the counter. Dick is a Rogue Valley native who graduated in 1975 with a degree in Geography from Southern Oregon State College.

Dick’s duties center on assisting local government land use planning efforts.  Through the COG, he provides current planning services to Jackson and Josephine counties, and the cities of Cave Junction, Gold Hill, and Shady Cove.  For the city of Shady Cove, Dick  provided them with professional planning advice and counsel from April 1997 until 2011.  He also chaired the committee in updating the city's comprehensive plan and zone ordinances.

He also provides temporary planning services to other cities during staff transitions and for special projects such as regional problem solving.  In addition to current planning, Dick manages grants for long-range planning projects, such as buildable land inventories, transportation planning, comprehensive plan updates, and ordinance revisions.
